Amrita Rao is not only gorgeous, she is proving to be one of the most versatile and engaging actresses in Bollywood today. Amrita was born in Chitrapur in Karnataka to a family of Brahmins, and she speaks Kannada, English, Hindi and Marathi as well as her native language Konkani. Amrita Rao entered the film industry in the 2002 film Ab Ke Baras. She made her first splash in the love story Ishq Vishk, in which she starred alongside Shahid Kapoor as childhood friends who fall in love later in life. For her performance she was nominated by Filmfare for Best Female Debut.
In recent years, her films have seen great success, such as the thriller Main Hoon Na, in which she received high praise, and Vivah, a love story pairing Shahid Kapoor and Amrita together again.
